Some Progress on Kingsguard Armor...

So I did some work on my next cosplay suit , not as much as I'd have liked, but any progress is still progress, I suppose.

The center chestplate design.
Two additional designs featured on the chestplate.

This is the design featured on the greaves - it was tough finding an image that properly showed the design, but based on what little I could find, the design is one of the chestplate images mirrored with minor tweaks to make sure they fit together nicely.
Here's a few examples of how I'm preparing designs. I'm simply creating them on the computer and printing them out (or in this case, I'll be projecting the image to trace onto sintra). For this particular piece, not only will I be cutting a piece of sintra out in the basic shape, but also carving into the sintra as well. The red designates areas where I'll be doing some counter-relief carving, and the dotted line around the image is where I'll actually cut the sintra (the pvc board has the tendency to chip/crack at the cut, so making sure I give myself some room for such problems is essential, plus this space also allows me to bevel the edges).

There is a LOT of intricate parts to this (these aren't even the most complicated), so making sure I have them as correct as possible will make actual construction much easier. I'll also be doing something similar for the actual armor parts, but more on that later.

So I'm terrible and totally forgot about this blog. I'm bringing it back to life. I've added a new section: check out my cosplay work by clicking the tab above!

Lord of the Rings Drinking Game

I made this about two years ago after discovering the rules. I'm not a drinker, but the image of all these (mostly) stoic characters drunk off their gourds was to funny to pass up.

Mass Effect 2 Fan Art (WIPs included)

Here's one of my latest images: Mass Effet 2 fan art. The character is Miranda, an officer of the shady Cerberus Corporation, with whom your character must join forces in order to stop an inter-galactic threat.

I used Photoshop exclusively on this image. I think with each image I create, I try a different approach. Here, I wanted to have a comic book, almost vector-like style, similar to the great  Patrick Brown.

Here are some different stages of the image.

My original inks.

I wasn't a fan of the original head and hair style, so I changed it completely. Not 100% satisfied here, I keep coming back to the face for tweaks throughout the process.

I've got all my base colors laid out. Time for shadow and detail work.

Adding textures, shadow and highlights.
Hope you enjoy!

Getting Started

Trying to expand my online presence. Figured this would be a good idea. Here I'll post my art, news about my music, and maybe other musings. We shall see!
